4.4: Reporter Gene Expression Analysis

Screenshot of videoYou are about to begin Topic 4, of Cell Culture Techniques.

In this topic you’ll learn about the role of Reporter Gene Expression Analysis. You will start by clicking on the next button at the bottom of the page to being reviewing information about Reporter Gene Expression Analysis.

OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of this module topic, you should:

  1. Be able to analyze gene expression resulting from a cell transfection experiment, using luciferase or GFP reporter constructs.
  2. Be able to prepare cell lysates from transfected cells by suspending adherent cells and lysing cells.
  3. Be able to conduct a luciferase assay on cell lysates by carrying out luciferase reactions and using bioluminescence to measure luciferase expression.
  4. Be able to use a luminometer to measure bioluminescence of cell lysate samples.
